Description

31 Bristol Road is a former stable that has been converted into a cottage, dated 1693 and altered in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and features a steeply-pitched stone slate gambrel roof, with brick stacks at the gable ends and two tall raking dormers. It has a two-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic, displaying a three-window range.

The exterior includes timber lintels above 20th-century windows, and a stone-slate gabled porch located to the left of center, flanked by the aforementioned windows. To the right, the lintel extends from the porch nearly to the quoin, indicating it was likely the former stable entrance. The right side of the building has a window in the gable, which probably served as an opening to a former hayloft. A date plaque situated between the right-hand windows reads "A R A 1693," which resembles an inscription found over the door of No. 23.

The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have been altered, with a cobbled floor exposed during renovations at the right end.
