Description
Garden Cottage is a former stable that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. The building is constructed from roughly coursed limestone and marlstone rubble, topped with a concrete tile roof that features coped verges, while the rear is covered with slates. It has one storey and an attic, with gabled full dormers on either side that have ball finials and 2-light chamfered mullion windows with dripstones. To the left, there is a boarded door with a rectangular barred overlight, which retains 17th-century dripstones from a former window or doorway. The centre has an infilled chamfered doorway with a 20th-century casement window, and to the right, there is a 20th-century window with a wooden lintel. The building also has 20th-century brick integral end stacks. Attached to the left is a lower 19th-century range, which is likely the former rectory stables. The cottage is included for its group value.
