Description
Widbrook Bridge is a road bridge located on Trowbridge Road, built in the early 19th century with some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of stone and brick and features a single elliptical arch that includes a keystone, a band, a solid parapet, and piers topped with stone coping. Inside the arch, there is some brickwork. The bridge has a towpath retaining wall with concrete coping and iron handrails. The Kennet and Avon Canal, for which the bridge was built, was constructed between 1794 and 1810, with John Rennie serving as the principal engineer.
