Description
The Barge Inn is a building dating from the 18th century, with possible earlier elements and later alterations. It has three storeys on the north front, constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The roof is slate with projecting eaves, and there are parapets at the gable ends featuring ashlar chimneys at the ridge. The front has three windows that are asymmetrically arranged, with intact sashes and glazing bars. Inside, there is one panelled room on the ground storey. To the west, there is a lower two-storey extension. At the rear to the east, there is a late 17th or early 18th century arch that features banded rustication and a keystone with a carved head, with a cornice above supported by two pairs of curved brackets.
