Description
The gatepiers and gates at the east end of the wall along the south side of the grounds to the Hall are likely from the 18th century or later. The gatepiers are made of ashlar and stand approximately 10 to 12 feet high. They feature a plain plinth and a projecting heavy entablature with a curved top, topped with a ball in an acanthus-leaved cup. The gates are double wrought-iron with intricate scroll work. These gatepiers and gates, along with Nos 3, 6, and 9 and the section of wall, form a group with the Hall.
