Description

13 New Road is a 18th-century building featuring a 19th-century shop front. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and has a hipped slate roof. The building is two storeys high with a parapet and includes two sashes with glazing bars on the first floor. The shop front is made of glazed tiles and projects outwards, featuring an overhanging canopy without bargeboards and an elaborate fascia board above. The ground floor has one plate glass window, flanked by two doors with oblong fanlights, the right-hand door adorned with an elaborate iron grille. There is also an iron rail for hanging game on iron brackets. The parade elevation showcases a glazed tile ground floor and tile-hung first floor, with 19th-century plate glass windows on the ground floor and sashes with glazing bars on the first floor.

The building has a curved extension along the south and west sides of New Road. This extension is also made of colour-washed brick and has a pitched old tile roof. The first part is two storeys high, featuring one sash with glazing bars in cased frames on the first floor and a Yorkshire casement with glazing bars on the ground floor. The remainder of the extension is one storey, containing one casement, one open window with iron bars, and one planked loft door. Number 13 is part of a group with Nos 1 to 4 (consecutive) and The Parade.
