Description

No 95 is a cottage dating from the 15th to 16th century, located in Sunton, Collingbourne Ducis. It is constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior, while the left gable is made of flint and brick. The cottage features a thatched roof and is a single storey with an attic, comprising three bays. The central living hall has a service room to the left, which is now used as a kitchen, and a bay to the right that was likely an outbuilding originally positioned behind the gable stack.

The entrance includes a boarded door with a glazed panel beside the main room. There are 20th-century timber windows and a flush dormer in the central bay, along with a brick stack. Inside, there is a full cruck truss to the left of the door, with a tie-beam extending under the wall plates and wattle and daub infilling, which is smoke blackened in the main room. An ogee doorhead is cut into the tie. There are pegged rails on the support floor on either side, possibly later additions. The apex of the blades is not visible. The open fireplace features an ogee chamfered stop to the lintel, and there are remains of an oven. Additionally, there are mortices for wind braces in the two left bays.
