6/64 Barn about 100m to north-east of Knowle Farmhouse, with attached range of stables

Barn. Dated 1690 on tie-beam. Timber-framed on rubble stone plinth with weatherboard cladding, half-hipped thatched roof. Eight bays, with north aisle. North side has two hipped porches with double planked doors. South side has double planked doors and open cartshed to two left hand bays, lean-to extension and stable attached to right. Interior has tie-beam and collar trusses with straight struts and straight bracing from jowled main posts or aisle posts to tie-beams and arcade plates, two tiers of through purlins, two west bays are partitioned off by timber-framing. Mid C19 single-storey range of stables attached to west end in flint and brick bands with tiled roof; two segmental. headed planked stable doors and one double door with transom light to left, four flat arched C20 windows, two hipped half-dormers with loft door or casement.
