Description

This is a barn dated 1668, located to the east of Binghams Farmhouse. It is timber-framed and sits on a rubble stone plinth, with weatherboard cladding and some full rubble stone walls. The barn features a thatched roof with a hip on the west gable. It consists of three bays plus a hip and a north aisle, and it is likely that it was originally extended by at least one more bay to the east. The north side includes a hipped porch with a blocked doorway, while the south side has double planked doors positioned to the right of the center. Inside, the barn has collar and tie-beam trusses with straight bracing from jowled main posts and aisle posts to the tie-beam and arcade plates. The date is inscribed on the tie-beam on the east side of the threshing floor.
