Description
No. 7 is a detached cottage located on Main Street, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble stone with timber framing on the first floor, topped with a double Roman tiled roof that has a hip on the left side and a brick stack on the right. It is two stories tall and features two windows.
The entrance consists of a planked door with strap hinges set in an ovolo-moulded wooden surround, located within a stone porch to the left of center. To the left of the door, there is a 2-light ovolo-mullioned casement window with a hoodmould above it. To the right, there are two 2-light mullioned casements, both under a single hoodmould, and a blocked doorway. On the first floor, there are two 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements, and the timber framing includes tension bracing that has been partly renewed.
The left side of the cottage features a 2-light and a single-light casement on the ground floor, with another 2-light casement on the first floor. The gable of the roof retains timber framing. The right side has a 3-light casement on the right and a 2-light attic casement. At the rear, there are lean-to extensions and a 20th-century addition, along with 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements on the first floor. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in December 1986.
