Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that originated in the 16th century, with a front section added in the 17th century and alterations made in the 19th century. The building features square-panelled timber-framing, a Welsh slate roof, and brick and stone stacks at the gable ends. It has an L-shaped plan with a four-bay rear range from the 16th century. The south front is two stories high and has two windows. There is a central door with six fielded panels and a slate canopy, flanked by 19th-century three-light casements on either side, and two more above on the first floor. The right side has a large 19th-century external stack and two single-light casements in the attic.

The 16th-century rear range includes a door with six fielded panels and a slate canopy, a single-light casement to the left, and two two-light casements to the right, along with a two-light attic casement. Attached to the right of the 16th-century range is a contemporary timber-framed cross wing, which served as a dairy, featuring casements and a slate roof. The rear of the 17th-century front range includes a brick and rubble stone wing from the 18th century with a segmental-headed casement, as well as lean-to extensions attached to the back of the timber-framed range.

Inside, the 16th-century range contains four crucks and a through passage that connects the former hall to the south with the service areas to the north. The 17th-century parlour wing to the south has moulded compartmental ceiling beams and a blocked fireplace in the west room, while the room above features a Tudor-arched stone fireplace and deep chamfered beams with stepped stops. An ovolo-mullioned window is preserved in the rear wall of the 17th-century range, now located within the 18th-century extension.
