Description
Setter's Lodge is a detached cottage dating from the early 17th century. It features timber-framing with brick nogging and a thatched roof that has a half-hip on the right side. There are brick stacks located to the left and in the center of the building. The cottage has a through passage leading to the rear of the stack and is single-storey with an attic, displaying a two-window facade.
The entrance is a planked door situated to the left of center, accompanied by a three-light casement window to the left and a combination of four-light, two-light, and single-light casements to the right. The cottage also boasts a large full gabled dormer on the left with a four-light casement and a smaller full dormer on the right featuring a three-light casement. Both dormers are adorned with carved barge boards and pendants.
On the right side, there is a 20th-century oriel window on the ground floor and a three-light casement on the first floor. The rear of the building has a lean-to extension. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in December 1986. It appears that the left bay with the large dormer is a later addition, likely from the late 17th century, featuring a different style of timber-frame. Additionally, most of the leaded casements and some of the brick nogging have been restored in the 20th century.
