Description

West House and West House Lodge is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features painted rubble and brick construction, with pantiled roofs, coped verges, and brick stacks.

The structure has a T-shaped road frontage, with a 17th-century range that runs parallel to the road and a large 18th-century wing that projects out at a right angle to the road, featuring a front-facing gable. The building is two storeys high; the wing is blank on the road side and shows evidence of blocked windows. On the returns, there are sash windows with glazing bars and exposed sash boxes, all with cambered heads.

The earlier range consists of one bay on the left and three bays on the right of the wing, featuring a mix of 19th and 20th-century casements with glazing bars, one sash window, and a pair of 20th-century French windows. There is a door opening on the right side of the projecting wing, which is part of a two-storeyed lean-to. This door is a six-panelled design, with the top two panels glazed, and is sheltered by a gabled trellis porch.
