Description

This is a late 18th-century manor house, now a house. It’s constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with squared rubble on the returns, painted freestone dressings, and brick stacks topped with moulded stone caps. The roof is tiled with coped verges. The design is symmetrical and in a Classical style. The house is two storeys high with a 1:1:1 bay arrangement. It has tall 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor and squat 16-pane sash windows on the first floor, all with wedge lintols and emphasised freestone keys. The central bay projects slightly and is topped with a triangular pediment flanked by grooved pilasters. The main entrance is centrally placed, with a panelled and glazed Gothick door within a stone doorcase featuring flanking fluted pilasters, a keystone, and a shallow hood supported by consoles. Original interior features are simple and in a contemporary style. A brick forecourt wall runs along the front, featuring freestone dressings, piers at each side, and central gate piers with domed caps. The gate piers feature 20th-century ironwork.
