Description
Squirrels is a house, formerly known as Southill Lodge, that dates back to the earlier 18th century and was reworked in the early 19th century in the cottage ornée style. It is constructed with colourwashed roughcast render over a timber frame and features a thatched roof that is hipped at the west end. The building has a four-room plan, is one storey high with attics, and includes a rounded room at the west end, which is likely a later addition.
The front elevation has three casement windows with pointed-arched heads on the ground floor, while the attic features two eyebrow dormers with two-light casements. There are two thatched gabled porches with some trellis work and 20th-century glazed doors. The east gable end has one integral chimney stack, and there is another ridge stack, both made of red brick. The west end has similar pointed-arched windows on the ground floor and dormer, with the ground floor window flanked by blind pointed arches. There are also 20th-century lean-to additions at the rear.
