Description

No 2 Endless Street, which also includes No 1 Winchester Street, is a mid-18th century building located on a corner site. It is two storeys high and constructed of painted brick, topped with a steeply pitched hipped roof made of old tiles. The building features a moulded wooden eaves cornice and has four flush-framed windows on the second floor, three of which are false. On the first floor, there is a canted 19th-century bay window with sash lights to the left, along with two other windows similar to those on the second floor, but without glazing bars. The shop front has been altered and modernised, with renewed pilasters and cornice, and it has been recased where it returns to Winchester Street.

Additionally, there is a lower contemporary extension on the Endless Street front, which is also two storeys high and made of painted brick, featuring a brick dentil eaves cornice and an old tile gable end roof. This extension has one sash window in the centre of the first floor, which is four panes wide, flanked by camber-headed blind windows. The ground floor of this extension previously had two windows and a good doorcase with a hood, but this has now been replaced by modern shop windows and a garage door. An original rainwater head is still present on this front.

The upper floors facing Winchester Street are also made of painted brick and feature large flanking Doric pilasters, with four recessed sash windows on the first and second floors. The second-floor windows retain their glazing bars, and the building has block sills and keystones. No 2 Endless Street forms a group with Nos 1 to 5B (odd) Winchester Street.
