Description
17 and 18 Queen Street is a building that dates back to the 16th or 17th century, with an early 19th-century refronting. It features a timber frame and stands four storeys tall, constructed of red brick that extends up to a parapet. There is a moulded band and a dentil cornice located beneath the third-floor windows. The roof is covered with old tiles. The upper floors have two tripartite flush moulded framed sash windows, while the ground floor has modern shop fronts. Behind the modern facade, the earlier structure remains, including a Jacobean staircase that leads from the first floor upwards. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 21 Queen Street.
