Description
Nos 46 and 47 Market Place are 17th to 18th century buildings that have been altered. They stand three storeys tall with a rendered front, featuring a moulded band above the first floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. The buildings have chamfered quoins and four windows on the upper floors, which are sash windows without glazing bars, set in architrave surrounds with cambered heads and stepped keystones. There is a modern shop front at street level. At the rear, there is a fine 18th-century staircase with an open string, turned balusters, and a swept moulded handrail. Remnants of a 17th or 18th-century coffee house can also be found at the rear, including some panelling. Nos 41 to 44, along with the Blue Boar Inn and Nos 45 to 51, form a group with these buildings.
