Description

Vale Cottage is a house located at right angles to the road in Wootton Rivers, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of dark red brick and features a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with narrow service rooms at the rear under the slope of the roof. An additional bay was added to the right side of the house. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door, with the upper panels glazed, and is sheltered by a thin porch supported by a bracketed canopy. The windows are four-paned sashes set in segmental brick-headed openings, and there are part external gable stacks. In the 19th century, the house was further extended with a wide bay on the right, which includes casement windows.
