Description
The Macy monument is a headstone located in the churchyard, about 9 meters west of the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of limestone. The headstone features a plain border around the inscription, which is notable for its good lettering and wavy head. It commemorates Phillip Macy, a local mason and engraver of churchyard monuments, who died in 1711. Part of the inscription reads, "HEE IN HIS LIFE TIME / ENGRAVED STONES FOR / MANY BUT FOR HIMSELF / HAD NO TIME TO ENGRAVE / ANY."
