Description
35 to 39 Milford Street is a building that dates from the 16th century or possibly the 17th century, although it was recased in the early 19th century. It has two storeys, with No 35 being a single bay featuring a tile-hung first floor and a sash window. The ground floor has a modern shop front. Nos 37 and 39 have a grey brick facade, with a brick cornice that includes header dentils and a parapet with coping. The first floor has five recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars. The ground floor features small modern shop fronts that extend up to a band between the storeys. The return front to Pennyfarthing Street is painted brick, with two flush-framed sash windows on the first floor, and two sash windows on the ground floor, one of which is large and flush-framed, also with intact glazing bars. There is a four-panel door with an architrave, plain pilaster surround, and a moulded cornice, along with a plain secondary door to the right. Nos 19A to 39 form a group.
