Description

The front garden walls, gate, gate piers, and railings at The Old School House were built in 1864. The garden is enclosed by a low stone rubble wall topped with flat stone coping. On this wall, there is a low iron railing with uprights approximately 1.8 meters apart, supporting a horizontal rail. The uprights are finished with moulded finials, although some are missing. Facing Alston Lane, there are two pairs of square gate piers with low pyramidal caps. The right-hand pair is made of ashlar and supports an iron gate with spear-head uprights that alternate in height. Along the left side of the garden, there is a taller version of the front wall.
