Description

John's Cottage and Ridgeway, including the gate piers to the northeast, are a mirrored pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century. They have solid rendered walls and a slated roof, although the rear wing of John's Cottage is covered with corrugated iron. Each end wall features a large rendered chimney. The cottages are likely one room wide and two rooms deep, with a short rear wing at each end. They stand two storeys tall, while the wings are one storey.

The front facade has three windows. On the ground floor, there are adjacent doorways in the centre, which are sheltered by a single pent-roofed hood supported by shaped brackets, and feature plank doors. On either side of the doorways, there are three-light wood casement windows, each with four panes per light. The upper storey has three plain wood casement windows, each with two lights and without glazing bars.

Additionally, there are two stone rubble gate piers abutting the side wall of Ridgeway on the right. The front inner corners of the piers are square, while the rear corners are rounded, and the left pier has large iron hinges.
