Description

The property comprises two cottages, originally serving as gatehouses to Beauport Lodge, along with associated gate piers and gates. The west cottage appears to have a later front facade, likely rebuilt in the early to mid-19th century, although the rear structure possibly dates back to the 17th century. The east cottage is entirely of the early 19th century. Both cottages are two storeys high and feature four windows in total. They are constructed of red brick with grey brick headers, and have tiled roofs, with the west cottage’s roof at a higher level. The windows are casement style with diamond-shaped panes, and have segmental brick arches to the ground floor openings. Two wooden trellis gabled porches with ogee arches are present. The gate piers are constructed of ashlar, square in plan, with moulded caps. They support heavy decorative cast iron gates to the east.
