Description
Bridge Cottage and Hill Nigh are a pair of cottages from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating parts of an earlier building, with some minor later additions and alterations. They are constructed from painted roughly coursed slate-stone and feature a slate roof that is hipped to the left of both sections.
The cottages are two storeys high, with a straight joint between them. Bridge Cottage, on the left, has a four-panel door with the top panels glazed, located to the left of centre and featuring a segmental relieving arch. To the left of this door is a 20th-century top-hung casement window, and to the right, there is a segmental-headed 19th-century casement window. There is also a segmental-headed plank door at the far right. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century casement windows. The cottage has a prominent central ridge stack with a painted brick top, as well as a painted brick ridge stack at the far right.
Hill Nigh, on the right, features a 19th-century three-light casement window on the ground floor to the left, with a 2-light 19th-century casement window directly above it. There is a 20th-century nail-studded plank door with a granite lintel to the right of centre, accompanied by a 19th-century fixed-light window to the right and a 19th-century casement window directly above, positioned just below the eaves. A red brick ridge stack is located to the right. Additionally, there is a two-storey lean-to at the rear of Bridge Cottage, which has raised eaves.
