Description

Coburg Place is a terrace of four houses, built around the 1850s, which includes area railings. These houses are contemporary with Nos. 1-4A and 4B but feature a slightly different design. They have stuccoed and blocked-out facades, gabled slate roofs, and stacks with rendered shafts. Each house has a double-depth plan, with one room wide.

The exterior is two storeys and a basement, with the front elevations staggered. Each house features an asymmetrical three-window front, deep eaves, an eaves band, and a sill band at the first floor. There are two round-headed ground floor windows with blind recesses below the sills, fitted with three-over-two pane sashes that have horizontal glazing bars. To the right, there is a round-headed doorway with a plain fanlight, and the original doors are likely four-panel (specifically at No. 6). The first floor has three segmental-headed windows glazed with twelve-pane sashes, and the basement windows are also segmental-headed with chamfered architraves, fitted with twelve-pane sashes. The basements are accessed by steps from the street, and the area railings feature bold spear finials. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features. This terrace is part of a group that includes Nos. 1-4A and 4B, as well as Nos. 9 and 10 Coburg Place.
