Description

Flats, formerly a public house, skittle alley, and service wing, dating from around the middle of the 19th century. The building is stuccoed and has a hipped slate roof with deep moulded eaves and pierced crested ridge tiles. There are stuccoed axial and lateral stacks with moulded cornices.

The building is arranged in an L-shape, built on a corner site. The original entrance was on the south-east front, with a long wing containing a skittle alley extending uphill to the south-west and a lower range downhill to the north.

The main range is on the corner, with a string course and a recessed rounded corner featuring bowed 12-pane sashes. The front to the left has three windows with 12-pane sashes, with the right-hand window blind. A blocked central doorway is present with pilasters and an entablature. There are three windows on the right; two 12-pane sashes are on the first floor, and the others are blind. A lower service range runs along the north side with 12-pane sashes. Uphill, facing Teignmouth Road, a taller two-storey, six-window range has a string course at first-floor sill level, tall 12-pane first-floor sashes, and smaller ground-floor windows in rusticated frames. A doorway with an overlight is on the right.

The interior has not been inspected.
