Description
Nos 20 and 24 Turnball are 17th century or early 18th century buildings that were formerly three cottages. They are one and a half storeys high, constructed of random rubble with a thatched half-hipped roof and two brick chimneys, one of which is 'T'-section. Number 24 features two dormers cut into the thatch, with the left-hand dormer having a 2-light leaded casement window. The ground floor has three windows: two are 3-light glazing bar casements and one is a 2-light casement. Number 20 is single storey at the front and has only one window, which is a 3-light casement with a wooden lintel; there is an extension to the right for the entrance and a bulge for a bread oven to the left. There is also an 'L'-plan extension to the rear. Inside, there are back-to-back inglenook fireplaces with two bread ovens. In Number 24, one truss has a principal that springs from below the first floor.
