Description
The conservatory, located 30 yards north of the Gatehouse to Leyhill, was built in the mid to late 19th century by Ewan Christian. It features coursed rubble walls with freestone dressings and cast iron ribbed dome roofs, although the glass is missing. Designed in an Early English style, it has a cross plan with apsidal wings on the north and south sides. The south elevation showcases an apsidal center with seven bays, supported by Early English columns that have foliate octagonal capitals and pointed arches. On either side of the center, there are two bay arcades with four-centred arches and buttresses in between. The east and west gable ends are constructed entirely of cast iron on a plinth, with thin ribs creating tracery that includes heart-shaped heads. Additionally, there is a former single-storey boiler room that projects from the northeast corner.
