Description
The boathouse at the north end of The Lake was built around 1850 by S.S. Teulon. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble and features a plain and fish scale tiled roof. The north elevation has a single gable end displaying the Ducie arms, with a wooden seat beneath a tiled hood. To the right, there is a single-storey entrance wing that has an embattled parapet and a plank door set in a chamfered four-centred surround, complete with enriched spandrels and a hood mould.
On the south elevation, which faces the lake, a flight of steps leads down from the entrance wing to the water, flanked by a coped rubble wall. To the right is the main boathouse, which has a four-centred entrance flanked by buttresses and features a rib vaulted interior. The south gable end of the boathouse is canted and broached at the base, with three three-light casement windows topped by a gable over the central section, and a half hipped roof above.
