Description
The Cottage is an estate cottage dated 1851, possibly designed by S.S. Teulon for the Earl of Ducie's estate. It is built of rubble with freestone dressings and has a 20th-century tiled roof. The building is in a picturesque Tudor Gothic style and has an L-plan layout with two storeys.
On the south-west elevation, there is a lateral stack to the right, featuring a single light casement on the ground floor. To the left, there is a three-light casement, and on the first floor, a two-light cross window is situated under a hipped gable. In the center, there is a plank door set within a later rustic porch. A single-storey kitchen wing extends to the left.
The south-east elevation includes a canted bay window with a configuration of one, two, and one light, along with a three-light cross window in the gable end. There is also a single light in the rear wing, with the datestone positioned above.
