Stable About 60 Metres North East Of Hamswell House

This stable, located about 60 metres northeast of Hamswell House, dates from the late 15th century to early 16th century, with 19th and 20th century alterations. It is constructed from limestone rubble with stone dressings and quoins, topped by a double Roman tiled roof featuring raised coped verges and finials, as well as stepped stonework under the verges. To the east, there is a rubble lean-to with a corrugated asbestos roof. The south elevation includes 20th century garage doors and a loading door above, which has a timber lintel. Inside, the stable has a 19th century two-bay roof with a tie-beam, collar, and two rows of purlins, and may have originally featured a cruck-frame similar to that found in a barn located about 70 metres northeast of Hamswell House.
