Description
The Smyth Chest Tomb, located 5 yards west of the south aisle of St. Leonard's Church, is a Grade II listed chest tomb commemorating Joseph Smyth, who died in 1771. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features square inscribed panels with enriched borders, along with decorative corner balusters, a moulded plinth, and a cornice. This chest tomb is part of a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms and significantly enhances the setting of the church.
