Description

This is a detached barn located approximately 8 meters west of Vinney Green Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble made from thin-bedded lias and sandstone, featuring dressed quoins, jambs, and voussoirs, all of which were formerly limewashed. The barn has a double-Roman tile roof and is designed as a small free-standing gabled structure with five bays, including wide central doorways on each side.

The long front facing the lane has a wide opening with rebated jambs and a very flat elliptical arch, which contains a late 20th-century door but retains some earlier glazing in the transom and remains of hinge-pins. Blocked ventilation slits are present on each side of this opening. The left gable return features a plank stable door with an overlight, while the right return has a high-set, unglazed two-light casement. The long inner front also has a wide opening with an elliptical head and a pair of plank doors beneath a transom light, with blocked ventilation slits on either side.

Inside, the barn has a concrete floor and features four light trussed principals with two staggered flush purlins, along with lathing beneath the tiles. The barn is included for its group value with Vinney Green Farmhouse.
