Description

Hallen Farmhouse is a late 17th-century, 'L'-plan farmhouse, likely dating to the 1680s. It is constructed of rendered walling with modern pantile roofs and plain end gables. The two-storey front elevation has three windows, which are later small paired sash windows set in exposed frames. A central, rendered and gabled porch has a studded inner door within a square headed frame with a stopped-ogee moulding. Gabled wings extend to the rear, featuring blocked openings with dripmoulds. Rendered stacks are present, one with diminished stages. Internally, the farmhouse has been altered; on the ground floor only one door retains a stopped chamfer surround. A side-through passage door on the rear wing is similarly characterised by a stopped-ogee-moulded surround. Outbuildings constructed of rubble with pantile roofs, which form a large back courtyard, are not considered to have group value.
