Description
The former two barns located to the south-west of Dibden Farmhouse are the oldest part of a range of barns, likely dating from the 17th century or possibly the late 16th century, and were probably originally used for domestic purposes. The barns are two storeys high, constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. The central section has a stone base and tiles, which appear to be from the 18th century. There are two slit windows on the north side and a central door. The eastern section features roof trusses that are braced from the floor-beams, which seems to have been an afterthought as the braces are now strained out of shape; several wind braces are still present. The central section has conventional tie beam roof-trusses and includes a lean-to shed on the north side, while the south wall is obscured. The gable ends of the eastern section may have originally been timber framed.
