Description
The Engine House at Mangotsfield Church Farm Colliery is a Grade II listed structure built in 1881. It is constructed from Pennant sandstone and consists of the remains of a two-storey building. The south side features an arched doorway on the ground floor and a large arched opening above, both adorned with dressed keystones and quoins. There are additional remains of openings in other areas of the building. The interior lacks a roof structure, machinery, or fittings. At the time of the survey in August 1987, the site was heavily overgrown. This engine house is significant as it is a very rare above-ground survival from a once extensive coalfield.
