Description
The Neale chest tomb, located 8.5 metres south of the south-west corner of the south transept of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb dating from 1744, commemorating Sarah Neale. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a provincial baroque style, characterized by moulded pilasters, inscribed shield panels, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice. This chest tomb is part of a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms, significantly enhancing the church's setting.
