Description
Kennel Lodge, along with its flanking gates, gate piers, and railings, is an early 19th-century building located at the north end of Kennel Drive in Badminton. The lodge is designed in an octagonal classical style and features two storeys, with a slate roof behind a balustraded parapet and a cornice. The first floor has a single glazing bar sash window, with niches below on the ground floor. There is a plain band above the ground floor, and a Tuscan column porch that includes an entablature, cornice, and blocking course, leading to a 20th-century panelled door. Above the porch is a panel displaying the ducal crest of a portcullis in a garter. The building has single-storey wings that project to the south and west. The gates, gate piers, and railings extend to the north and east, featuring square ashlar piers with a cornice and cast iron railings and gates adorned with fleur de lys finials.
