Description
The Look Out, also known as Whitsom Lodge, is a three-storey building likely dating from the early 19th century. It features a roughcast front with some incised masonry detail and stone dressings. A deep cornice sits above the first floor, complemented by triangular pediments on the side elevations and corner pilasters. The building has parallel hipped pantile roofs, with two windows on the second floor and four below, all fitted with sashes in painted reveals and glazing bars. Round-headed niches containing nautical motifs are located at the outer ends of the front above the entrances. The doorways are framed by shouldered architrave surrounds and lead to six-panel doors. This building, along with Nos 1 to 3, St Antony's School, Nos 36 and 38 Hill Road, and Christiana on Copse Road, forms a cohesive group.
