Description
The War Memorial at the Church of St John the Baptist is a First World War memorial built in 1922. It is made of limestone and is located in the churchyard to the south of the church, near the entrance on the west side.
The memorial features a lantern cross atop a tapering octagonal shaft. It stands on a square stone pedestal with chamfered angles, which is set upon a four-stepped octagonal base. The plinth of the memorial is inscribed with the words: ‘IN THANKFUL REMEM- / BRANCE OF THE MEN / OF THIS PARISH AND / CONGREGATION / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES / IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 -1918’.
