Description
The remains of a medieval churchyard cross, dating to the late 13th century, stand against the wall of the south aisle of the Church of St John. The cross is constructed from limestone. It features an octagonal socket stone with rounded feet on the ordinal angles. From this rises a square shaft with beaded angles. Cusped brackets, made from reused tracery and cemented into position, slightly overhang the socket stone. The cross is approximately 1.5 metres tall, having been decapitated.
