Description
Ashvale Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse that incorporates an older dwelling. It is constructed from uncoursed and roughly coursed granite rubble, topped with 20th-century slate and pantile roofs. The building features brick end stacks on the main mid-19th century range and a truncated end stack on the older range. The main range has a three-unit plan, while the older range has a two-unit plan that is positioned at right angles to the west. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the main three-window range displaying granite lintels above a panelled door and horned 2/2-pane sash windows. The lower section, which was the former dwelling, has granite lintels over a 20th-century plank door and a small window, as well as a concrete lintel over a 20th-century window to the right and another 20th-century window under the eaves. Inside, the former dwelling features pegged A-frame trusses.
