Description

Round Island Lighthouse and the attached house were built in 1887 by William Tregarthen Douglass. The lighthouse features a circular plan and is a tapering three-stage tower made of granite ashlar with a cast-iron cupola. The exterior includes square-headed cross windows, a cast-iron parapet rail, and a lattice light topped with a curved conical roof. The attached single-storey house has five windows, four of which are sash windows with glazing bars. It also features a central porch with doors on the returns and a fixed eight-pane casement window at the front, along with a projecting cornice on the flat roof. The lights were modernized in 1967.
