Description

Thatch is a house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from colourwashed granite rubble and features a gabled slate roof from the 20th century, with rendered end stacks. The building has a two-unit central-staircase plan and a rear outshut. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range. Granite lintels are present above a 20th-century half-glazed door and horned 2/2-pane sash windows.

The interior has not been inspected. Until recently, this was the last cottage on the islands to have its original thatch roof. Thatch is part of a group of cottages located in Dolphin Town, which is situated to the east of the Church of St. Nicholas.
