Description
Rose Cottage and Ivy Cottage are two houses located in Tresco, dating from the mid 19th century on the right and an earlier 19th or 18th century on the left. They are constructed from colourwashed granite rubble, featuring a gabled 20th-century slate roof on the right and a Delabole slate roof on the left. The right end stack is made of granite and finished in 20th-century brick, while there are mid 19th-century brick stacks as well.
The house on the right has a two-unit central-staircase plan with a later rear outshut, and the smaller house on the left has stairs to the right of the parlour, also with a later rear outshut. Both houses are two storeys high. The right house has a symmetrical three-window range with granite lintels above a 20th-century half-glazed door and horned 2/2-pane sash windows. The taller house on the left has a two-window range with granite lintels over similar sash windows and a four-panelled door.
The interiors are plain, featuring 19th-century joists.
