Description
The Chaplaincy is a rectory built around 1830, constructed from rendered granite rubble with a hipped slate roof and rendered end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan featuring a central stair hall. It stands two storeys high and has a four-window range. Simple pilaster surrounds are located at the corners and between the third and fourth bays. There is a pilastered porch that includes a six-fielded-panelled door and diamond pattern glazing bars in the overlight. The windows are six-over-six pane sashes, while the rear stairwell features ten-over-ten pane sashes.
Inside, there is an open-well stair set in an internal apse, complete with a mahogany handrail and stick balusters. The large landing has a ceiling rose, and the hall features two segmental arches supported by anthemion brackets. One ground-floor room has a reeded fireplace with paterae, and a first-floor room includes a Greek-style cornice.
