Description

The lead cistern located to the south of the west door of the Church of St. Mary's is a water cistern dated 1727. It is made of lead and features a chamfered granite plinth. The cistern is rectangular in shape and is adorned with heraldic plaques and cartouches set within strapwork panels. The maker's mark on the north panel reads "HEZ. WALKER LONDON" above a crown on a laurel wreath. The west panel displays cherubs over GR crowns, flanking arms with three cannons. This cistern has been moved to its current location from Star Castle.
