Description
The Smith Table Tomb, located 14 metres north-west of the north porch of the parish church in Burton Bradstock, is an early 18th-century stone table tomb. It features bulbous end-blocks adorned with rosettes and has two panels on each side, each with segmental beaded heads. Fluted pilasters with block capitals are positioned between the panels. On the north side, the left panel bears the inscription, "Here lieth the body of Dorothy, the wife of William Smith which departed this life the 23rd day of May ..." (the year is illegible). The right panel states, "Here lieth the body of William Smith who departed this life .... 1706."
