6/93 Barn and Cart Shed 150 metres west of Silverbridge farmhouse

Barn. C18. Rebuilt gable end with the datestone 1846. Coursed lias stone and rubble stone walls, evenly banded. Thatch roof, with gable ends and stone gable copings to barn and lower cart shed. Barn taller than cart shed. Pitch door in east gable. Enlarged opening in east wall. Attached cart shed, C17. 4 bays. 3 large rubble-stone piers to north (open) side. Brick round arches over with flush rubble-filled spandrels. Heavy tie-beams from top of piers and bedded into rear wall. Roof construction, collar-beam trusses with renewed butt-purlins and plated yokes. "RCHM, Dorset I", p 96 (21).
